About Ascot Racecourse
Ascot Racecourse is a dual-purpose British racecourse in Ascot, Berkshire, about 25 miles west of London. It stages both Flat and jump racing, and hosts 13 of Britain's 36 annual Flat Group 1 races as well as three Grade 1 Jumps races. The current grandstand was completed in 2006. Being outside the capital, it is classed here under other rather than London. Race days are the core of its calendar, drawing crowds who attend for thoroughbred horse racing at the highest level of the sport's domestic programme. Its location in the Berkshire countryside means that attendance is organised around racedays rather than city-centre footfall.
