About The O2 Arena
The O2 Arena sits at the centre of The O2 entertainment district on the Greenwich Peninsula in south-east London. It opened in its present form in 2007 inside the former Millennium Dome, a structure originally built for an exhibition marking the turn of the millennium. In 2008 it was recorded as the world's busiest music arena, and it remains one of the largest indoor venues in the United Kingdom by seating capacity. The building is named after its main sponsor, O2, a Virgin Media O2 brand, and its nearest Underground station is North Greenwich on the Jubilee line. Large touring concerts are its defining event type.
