About bp pulse LIVE
bp pulse LIVE is a multipurpose indoor arena at the National Exhibition Centre in Solihull, just outside Birmingham. It has 15,685 seats and was built as the seventh hall of the NEC complex. After eighteen months of construction it opened as the Birmingham International Arena in December 1980, with a concert by Queen on their Flash Gordon Tour. The venue has since carried several sponsor names, and bp pulse LIVE is the current one. Being sited within an exhibition campus, it is a hall converted for live entertainment rather than a purpose-built standalone bowl.
